Christmas Play
|
Every year, Columbine students work together
to present a special Christmas play. There are many ways to tell the sacred story. At CCS you can always count
on angels, shepherds, wise kings (or queens), Mary and Joseph, and most importantly, the transforming power of
baby Jesus in the manger. Be sure to invite your friends and relatives to join us on December 12th (Saturday at
11:30am ) or December 16th (Wednesday) at 6:30pm.

Preschool through second grade will work
on a simple version that we call "The Itty Bitty Christmas Play". We will provide most of the costumes,
but children will need black pants, black socks (or tights) and a black turtleneck. |

Grades 3-8
Beginning at the end
of October, these students begin to work on learning the music for the play. Those with acting parts and lines
often work at recess times and after school to get ready for the program. We also give up some traditional curriculum
time, especially in the 3 weeks between Thanksgiving break and the performance, but we feel the benefits are worth
it!!
It takes a lot of teamwork to produce a play, and the lessons are many: public speaking, technical support, organization,
creative expression, commitment, and more. Parents interested in volunteering can help with costumes, hearing lines,
providing snacks for after school practices, etc. Please leave a note in the office or use the Contact Us form.
