Dear Parents,
I am so excited to be your child's teacher, and I am looking forward to working with them this year! It is important
for you to know my experience and my philosophy in teaching. I have lived in the Durango/Bayfield area for over
thirteen years and I have been fortunate to have taught in this area for eight years. I have a master's degree
in Literacy, Language, and Culture with endorsements in Elementary Education and Teacher of Linguistically Diverse
Population. I am passionate about teaching and committed to my students' educational and personal growth. I provide
my students with a quality education through utilizing a multitude of research-based teaching strategies, place
based outdoor education, individualizing lessons, and by providing enrichment activities that enhance the curriculum.
It is my responsibility to encourage each student to reach their full educational potential. |

Our classroom will be a community
of learners who grow
together through our experience of learning.
I strongly believe that all students are equally important and should be taught in the most effective and creative
way possible.

I believe that students
should learn in a safe, enthusiastic, individualized, challenging, and nurturing environment.
I believe that students greatly succeed when parents are involved in their child's education.
I believe that students learn best when they are respected and valued.
I believe that learning is a developmental process and students should be instructed at their own level.
I believe that students need each other and should learn how to communicate effectively and work together.
I believe that giving students the tools to be successful learners.
I believe in inspiring students to become life-long learners!
I believe that students should take responsibility for their learning.
I believe that "it takes a village to raise a child".
I believe in your child!
Thanks,
Mrs. Laura Driver
